The Venetian is opulence on purpose: crystal, marble, a ballroom that was clearly designed with a stage entrance in mind, and a house team that runs multi-day South Asian celebrations without blinking. It is one of the venues we are asked about most, and one where a little planning for the daytime makes an enormous difference to the album. Here is how we work it.
The spaces, from a photographer's side
- The ballrooms. Layered, chandeliered, with the scale for a five-hundred-guest reception and the height for a tall mandap. After dark they photograph beautifully with almost no help from us.
- The stage. Built for an entrance and for performances — the sangeet here looks like a show because the room was made for one.
- The foyer and the staircase. Marble and light — where the first look and the family portraits happen when the timeline is tight.
- The grounds. Enough for a baraat to arrive and for a short outdoor session; for the long portrait session we plan a nearby park.
The light through the day
The interiors are the reason to book The Venetian and they are at their best at night. So we plan the daytime differently: a first look on the grounds or in the foyer before the guests arrive, and a short drive to a nearby park or garden in the afternoon for the couple portraits — thirty minutes there gives us the frames the ballroom cannot. Indoors, the ceremony is lit by us in advance; the reception uses the room's own light with ours added on the floor and the stage.

The sangeet
With a real stage and a room that takes colour, the sangeet at The Venetian is usually the most spectacular night of the weekend. We put one photographer on the stage side and one in the audience, light the performers from the front so their faces read against the LED wall, and, if a film is included, the cinematographer works the same light.
Practical notes
- Plan the daytime. A first look and a nearby park session make the album; the evening will look after itself.

- The mandap and the havan. Confirm height and the contained flame in writing, as everywhere.
