Since 2013 Surya has photographed more than 400 South Asian celebrations, with photography and film from one in-house team, and the studio is rated 4.9 on Google by 38 families. Morris County travel is included in every collection.

Morris County weddings

Parsippany has one of the larger Indian communities in North Jersey, and Morris County weddings tend to combine two things: the scale of a North Jersey reception room and the green of the hills around it. Couples here often choose between a dramatic, modern-royal ballroom and an estate-style setting with gardens, and we plan the photographs differently for each — the first is at its best after dark, the second in the last two hours of light.

Venues in and around Morris County

  • The Legacy Castle, Pompton Plains — a great hall that photographs like a film set after dark, sweeping staircases made for an entrance, and grounds for the baraat. We plan couple portraits on the grounds and at the façade in the afternoon, when the light is kind.
  • Meadow Wood Manor, Randolph — a Morris County venue couples bring to us; we walk it before the day like any other.
  • Crystal Plaza, Livingston — just over the Essex County line: refined, with a classic ballroom and a house kitchen that works with Indian menus. A strong fit for a fusion celebration with a black-tie feel.
  • Pleasantdale Château, West Orange, and The Grove, Cedar Grove — two more rooms in neighbouring Essex County that appear on our calendar.
  • The Venetian, Garfield — crystal and marble about half an hour east, for a reception built around a stage entrance.
  • Perona Farms — further north-west in Sussex County; Isha & Rahul's highlight film from there is one of the four films on our films page.

Our guide to Indian banquet halls in New Jersey covers the North Jersey halls side by side.

Temples and gurdwaras

Morris County families hold the ceremony in several ways: at the venue itself with their own priest, at a community temple close to home, or at the larger temples of Bridgewater, about half an hour south on Route 287, where we photograph regularly. For an Anand Karaj, the gurdwara in Glen Rock in Bergen County is one of those our Sikh weddings have taken us to. Every temple and gurdwara has its own rules on flash, positions and dress, and we confirm them before the day. Our Hindu wedding and Sikh wedding pages go through the ceremonies.

Where we take portraits in Morris County

  • Frelinghuysen Arboretum, Morris Township — formal gardens and specimen trees around a historic house.
  • Morristown National Historical Park — the woods and open fields of Jockey Hollow, quiet and green.
  • The Morristown Green — the town square and the streets around it, for a city feel without the city.
  • Skylands, Ringwood — the New Jersey Botanical Garden: a stone manor and formal gardens in the northern hills.
  • Presby Memorial Iris Gardens, Montclair — a short, spectacular season in late May.

Many parks, gardens and campuses require a permit or a fee for professional photography, some do not allow it at all, and the rules change from year to year — we check every location and arrange the permit before the day, so nobody is asked to leave in the middle of golden hour. October brings the foliage to the hills, and our engagement locations guide has the light for each season.

Questions Morris County couples ask us

Do you photograph Indian weddings in Parsippany and Morris County?

Yes. We photograph weddings across Parsippany, Morristown, Pompton Plains, Florham Park, Randolph and the rest of Morris County. Our studio is in Flemington, about forty-five minutes away, and travel here is included in every collection.

Have you photographed at The Legacy Castle?

Yes — receptions there are part of our North Jersey calendar. The interiors shine at night, so we plan couple portraits on the grounds and at the façade in the afternoon and keep two minutes on the staircases for the entrances. Our venue guide to The Legacy Castle has the timeline.

Where can we take portraits near Morristown?

The Frelinghuysen Arboretum, the fields of Jockey Hollow and the Morristown Green are all close, and Skylands in Ringwood is worth the drive for a garden-and-manor look. Most require a permit or a fee for professional photography, which we arrange in advance.

Is autumn a good time for a Morris County wedding?

September to mid-October gives New Jersey its kindest light, and October brings the foliage to the hills. Those Saturdays go first, so most couples book twelve to eighteen months ahead.

How much does an Indian wedding photographer cost in Morris County?

It depends on the number of events, the size of the team and whether a film is included. With us, single-celebration collections begin in the mid four figures, and most couples who celebrate across a full wedding weekend make a five-figure investment, set out in a written, itemised proposal.
