Indian wedding photography packages, explained

What a multi-day package should include, what is usually a line item, and how to read two quotes that look nothing alike.

An Indian wedding photography package is the list of events covered, the team on each one, and everything you receive afterwards — the edited gallery, the films, the albums. A good multi-day package names every event, every person and every deliverable in writing, so two quotes can be compared line by line. This guide walks through what a package should contain, what tends to be extra, and how to compare them without being misled by the total.

Why Indian wedding packages are built by event

A single-day wedding package can be sold by the hour. An Indian wedding cannot, at least not honestly. A Thursday haldi in a backyard, a Friday sangeet in a ballroom and a Saturday ceremony at a temple are three different jobs, with different light, different crews and different editing. That is why the better studios build a package from your event list — and why a package that simply says "full weekend" deserves a follow-up question. Our own collections are not really packages at all, but starting points that are tailored to the weekend in front of us.

What a multi-day package should include

1. Every event, named

Mehndi, haldi or pithi, sangeet or garba, baraat, ceremony, reception — each listed with a start time and a duration. If the Ganesh puja at home or the Chooda on the morning of the wedding matters to your family, it belongs on the list too.

2. The team, by role and by name

Lead photographer, second photographer, cinematographers, and who covers which event. For a large weekend, a studio may bring anywhere from two to five photographers depending on scale. You should know who is coming before you sign — at our studio, Surya is the lead photographer at every wedding we accept.

3. Planning before the day

A timeline session, a family shot list built together, and a venue walkthrough where possible. This is the part that decides whether the photographs are calm or chaotic, and it should be included rather than charged.

4. The photographs you receive

A sneak peek within days, the full edited gallery by a stated date, and the rights to print them. Our galleries carry every delivered image, not a selection, with a full print release for personal use.

5. The films, by length

A highlight film, a feature film, the full ceremony, a same-day edit, social cuts. Each is a separate piece of work; our guide to Indian wedding videographer costs explains what each one involves.

6. Albums and artefacts

A heirloom album, parent albums, fine-art prints. These are often added at booking or after the wedding — make sure you know which.

7. Travel, backups and the small print

Travel terms, how the files are backed up, the payment schedule and what happens if the date moves.

How our collections are shaped

CollectionWhat it coversWho it suits
The single celebrationOne event — a sangeet, a reception, an engagement — with a lead and second photographer and a complete edited galleryCouples adding one event, or a smaller celebration
The wedding dayBoth mornings' preparations, the ceremony and the reception, with a photography team and a cinematography team side by sideThe shape most of our couples choose
The wedding weekendMehndi, haldi, sangeet, ceremony and reception as one story, with a feature film, a highlight film and a same-day editMulti-day celebrations that deserve a book, not a chapter

Every collection includes the planning call and family shot list, sneak peeks within 48 to 72 hours, a full print release, recording to two cards and redundant offsite backups, a private gallery for both families, travel within 90 miles of New Jersey, a direct line to Surya, and a private portal for the schedule, payments and films. For scale: single celebrations begin in the mid four figures, and most full weekends with photography and film are a low-to-mid five-figure investment. The investment page has the detail.

How to compare two Indian wedding photography quotes

Lay the two proposals side by side and fill in this table for each. The cheaper one is often not cheaper once the lines are filled in.

AskWhy it matters
Which events, and how many hours at each?"Full day" can mean eight hours or twelve
How many photographers and cinematographers — named?Associate teams are common; you should know who is coming
How many edited images, by what date?A delivery date in the contract is worth more than a promise
Which films, at what length?A four-minute highlight and a thirty-minute feature are different products
Album, parent albums, prints — included or extra?Albums are often the largest line item added later
Engagement session — included or extra? Two hours before the wedding makes the wedding portraits easier

Red flags in a package

  • No event list. A package that does not name the events is guessing at your wedding.
  • No names. "Our team" is not an answer.
  • No delivery dates. Ask for them in writing.
  • A sample timeline with a 4 pm ceremony. If the studio's template does not account for a muhurtham, they may not have photographed many Indian weddings.
  • A price that only makes sense if nothing runs late. Hourly overtime on an Indian wedding day adds up quickly.

Engagement sessions and other additions

Most multi-day packages can carry a few extras, and they are worth understanding before you compare totals. The most useful is the engagement or pre-wedding session. Ours is two hours at one or two locations, with location scouting and outfit guidance, and more than eighty hand-edited images delivered in two weeks. Beyond the photographs, it has a practical purpose: two hours in front of the camera before the wedding means you already know how it works on the day, and couples who have done one are visibly more relaxed in their wedding portraits. Save-the-date films can be made from the same session. Other common additions are an extra event, such as a welcome dinner or a post-wedding brunch, a drone where the venue allows one, and parent albums. Whatever you add, ask to see it as its own line, so you know exactly what it changes. If you would like a proposal built on your own event list, tell us your date.

What to do next

Write your event list first — every event, the guest count and the venue. Send the same list to every studio you are considering, so the quotes you get back are built on the same weekend. Our guide to choosing an Indian wedding photographer in New Jersey lists the questions to ask once you have them, and if you are planning in New Jersey, New York or Philadelphia, our Indian wedding photographer in New Jersey page explains where and how we work.

A package is a promise written down. The more of it is written down, the fewer surprises there are on the day — and after it.

Frequently asked

What is included in an Indian wedding photography package?

A good package names every event and its hours, the photographers and cinematographers by role, the planning before the day, the edited gallery and its delivery date, any films by length, and albums or prints. It should also state travel terms, backups, the payment schedule and what happens if the date changes.

How many events does a typical Indian wedding package cover?

It depends on the weekend. A single-celebration package covers one event, such as a sangeet or a reception. A wedding-day package covers preparations, the ceremony and the reception. A full weekend package covers mehndi, haldi, sangeet, ceremony and reception, usually across two or three days.

Are albums included in Indian wedding photography packages?

Sometimes, and it is worth checking line by line. With us, heirloom albums, parent albums and fine-art prints can be added at booking or after the wedding, whenever the couple is ready, and they appear in the proposal as line items so you can see exactly what each one changes.

Should photography and videography be in the same package?

Booking both from one studio means one team, one timeline and one shot list, so the photographers and cinematographers are not competing for the same spot at the mandap. It also makes the quote easier to compare. If you hire separately, make sure both vendors see the same timeline weeks before the wedding.

Can we customise an Indian wedding photography package?

With us, yes — that is how every proposal is built. Our three collections are starting points; roughly a third of our couples end up with something tailored beyond them, such as three events across two cities or a very large single day.
